Biography

Althea Hewitt, one of Jamaica’s exceptional performers. One of seven kids born to Icema and Stephen Hewitt received her initial inspiration from her dad, who started his career as a guitarist who played in the popular band “Hippie Boys” and band owner of “Mighty Clouds band”. Stephen understanding the difficulty with the life of a musician was reluctant to encourage althea to learn music theory/business; but growing up in a household of musician’s Althea was heavily influenced by continuous rehearsals permeating the house which resulted in music becoming a driving force in her life. Althea’s musical experience incorporates reggae, pop, r&b, jazz and extensive training in pop, classical vocal training with several vocal trainers plus voice and speech, acting, and dance courses from the renowned Edna Manley college.

Althea is passionate about her musical career and lights up the stage where ever she performs around the world. She was the lead singer of the “4th Street Sister”, a popular female singing group in Kingston, Jamaica.

She has worked with some of the top producers like the late Fattis Burrel, Joe Gibbs and has grown in her craft through performing at grand resorts like Ritz Carlton, Couples tower isles, Sandals and the Jamaica Pegasus hotel.
